Free Crochet Pattern: Harvest Leg Warmers Pattern

What’s a California crocheter to do when it’s TECHNICALLY fall but your state is still too warm for thick beanies and scarves?? Well, my solution is leg warmers!

I wanted to be a part of all those cozy cold weather makes so decided to create the Harvest Leg Warmers pattern. This is a quick and simple pattern that can add some style, warmth and yarn to any look. Wear them with a long skirt and boots or over some skinny jeans! Make them in every color for every outfit!

I especially love these because I think it’s a great way to dress your boots up or to make it possible to wear your shorter jeans that don’t tuck into the top of your boots. Use your Harvest Leg Warmers to cover up that gap and let your wardrobe transition into the new season!

You can make these neutral to go with everything or use them to add a pop of color! There is seriously so many ways to use this pattern to create fun and unique looks this season. Not to mention a great quick Christmas gift or stocking stuffer! So tell me, what color will you make a pair in??

Harvest Leg Warmers

Materials:
Approximately 70-250 yards of medium weight yarn (I used I Love This Yarn)
J/6 mm hook or size needed to obtain gauge
Scissors
Tapestry Needle
Measuring Tape
Stitch Marker

Sizes:
12-24 Month – 6″ around, 5.5″ tall.
Toddler (2-4) – 6.5″ around, 6″ tall.
Child (5-9) – 7.5″ around, 7″ tall.
Pre-Teen (10-12) – 8.5″ around, 7.5″ tall.
Teen/X-Small – 10″ around 8.5″ tall.
Small – 12″ around, 8.5″ tall.
Medium – 14″ around, 8.5″ tall.
Large – 15″ around, 8.5″ tall.
X-Large – 17″ around, 8.5″ tall.

Note about sizing: I have attempted to create some standard/average sizing based on age and clothing size BUT calves vary greatly from person to person and don’t always correspond with your clothing size. The best way to get the correct fit is to measure your calf and then choose a size that has an around measurement about an inch smaller than your calf measurement.

Gauge:
dc – 14 sts by 9 rows = 4”.

Gauge is important to your project so your finished piece will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The hook size for the pattern is based on what I used, but gauge can vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer rounds or stitches to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook; if more rounds or stitches, try a larger size hook. The pattern also provides measurements to obtain for specific sizes. Using a combination of matching gauge and measuring, as closely as possible, should get you to the desired size.

Stitches and Abbreviations:
ch(s) – chain(s)
st(s) – stitch(es)
sl st – slip stitch
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
dc – double crochet
dc blo – double crochet back loop only
FPdc – front post double crochet
BPdc – back post double crochet
sk – skip

Notes:
Joins worked as a slip stitch in the first stitch of round, beginning chains don’t count as stitches.
Repeats are what is in between the * *.
Stitches written in ( ) are to be completed in the same stitch.
Worked in a combination of joined rounds and continuous rounds.
Worked top (cuff) down.
To adjust the width of your cuff, simply add or remove to your beginning chain by 2s.
If you choose to follow your own measurement take into account the stretch and make it an inch or so smaller than your measurement.
To adjust the height of the warmer, simply add or remove rounds of double crochet at the bottom before adding your two decorative rounds.
There is a “customize your size” section at the very end to help you make leg warmers that fit exactly how you want them to!
