Give your gardening boots a charming, handmade upgrade with these Garden Boot Charms!
This crochet pattern is a fun and whimsical way to add personality to your outdoor adventures, whether you’re tending flower beds, gathering herbs, or going for a springtime hike, these adorable charms bring a handmade touch to every step. Designed for crocheters who love small, satisfying projects, these adorable charms work up quickly and let you play with colors to make each one uniquely yours.

One of the best things about this pattern is how easy it is to customize! The length of the chains can be adjusted to perfectly fit your boots, and since the flowers are made separately, you can add as many (or as few) as you like to match your personal style. Want a subtle, delicate accent? Keep it minimal with just a bloom or two. Love a bold, floral statement? Go all out and layer them up!
Plus, I’ve included a few creative variations using different yarn weights and hook sizes—turn the pattern into a dainty floral choker, a whimsical garland, or whatever you can think of! The possibilities are endless, and I can’t wait to see how you make this design your own!

Materials:
- Approximately 12 yds/11 m of #10 crochet thread
- 1.5 mm hook or size needed to obtain gauge
- 12 mm/.47″ Lobster Clasps
- Tapestry Needle
- Measuring Tape
- Scissors
- Aleene’s Stiffen Quick Spray

Sizing:
Finished regular chain is 11″ including lobster clasps.
Finished longer chain is 12.25″ including lobster clasps.
Gauge:
Leaves should be approximately .5″ and chain between leaves approximately 7/8″.
Gauge is important to your project so your finished piece will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The hook size for the pattern is based on what I used, but gauge can vary from person to person and be affected by yarn. If your leaf is larger than .5”, try using a smaller size hook; if smaller, try a larger size hook. Chains can be adjusted to .5″ by adding or removing to the amount in pattern.
Stitches and Abbreviations (US Terms):
- ch(s) – chain(s)
- dc – double crochet
- hdc – half double crochet
- sc – single crochet
- sl st – slip stitch
- st(es) – stitch(es)
- tr – treble crochet
Notes:
- Crochet chain and leaves are crocheted and then flowers made separately and attached/sewn onto the chain.
- Stitches between the [ ] brackets are to be worked the total number of times indicated.
- Adjustments can be easily made by simply chaining a different amount between leaves and I have written the two styles of leaves out, 2 Leaf or 1 Leaf, so that you could randomize the order to your preference if desired.
- Page 5 shows how you can adjust hook and yarn size to use this pattern in more ways! Like a choker or garland!

Ch 10(13)
Fasten off. Do NOT weave in ends yet.
Use your beginning and ending tails to sew on a lobster clasp to each end of the chain.

Flowers
Make as many flowers as you would like and sew them in place randomly along the vine.
Daisy: In magic circle, [ch 3, sl st] 5 times, tighten magic circle. (5 petals)
Fasten off.
Pull tail through the middle and then tighten.
Rose: Ch 14, sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across. (13)
Fasten off.
Roll the piece into a spiral from the end without tails to the end with tails. Use the tails to sew through the layers to hold them all in place.

Blocking
I suggest using some stiffening spray to get the leaves to spread and not curl. I pinned down the leaves and sprayed them lightly, not completely saturated, and tried to just spray the leaves and not the chains between. Let it dry completely and enjoy!

ALTERNATIVE USES
Choker
- For the choker, I used a 2.5mm hook and fingering weight yarn.
- I followed the directions for the longer chain.
- I only added a lobster clasp to one end of the chain.
- I weaved in the tail of the other end.
- I could then simply put the lobster claw through the chain where I liked the fit.

Garland
- For the garland, I used a 5.5 mm hook and worsted weight yarn.
- I followed the directions for the longer chain through TWICE (so once the last chain of 13 has been made, start back at the first 2 leaf section) before fastening off.
- Weave in your ends once leaf chain is made, no need for lobster clips.

I hope you loved making the Garden Boot Charms as much as I did!
