Materials:
- Approximately 26-36 yards/24-33 meters of worsted/medium weight yarn
- US G/8/4 mm Hook or size needed to obtain gauge
- Tapestry Needle
- Measuring Tape
- Scissors
Sizing:
Measurements are of finished piece, closed, with nothing inside. – 3.75″ wide by 3.75″ tall.
Gauge:
Pattern Stitch – First 2 Rounds = 2″ diameter
Gauge is important to your project so your finished piece will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The hook size for the pattern is based on what I used, but gauge can vary from person to person and be affected by yarn. If it takes you fewer rounds to make 2”, try using a smaller size hook; if more rounds, try a larger size hook. The pattern also provides measurements to obtain for a specific size. Using a combination of matching gauge and measuring, as closely as possible, should get you close to the desired size.
Stitches and Abbreviations (US Terms):
- ch(s) – chain(s)
- dc – double crochet
- RS – right side
- sk – skip
- sl st – slip stitch
- sp – space
- st(s) – stitch(es)
- v-st – v-stitch (dc, ch 1, dc)
- whip st – whip stitch (for seaming)
- WS – wrong side
Notes:
- Beginning chains count as a double crochet and chain one.
- Stitches between the [ ] brackets are to be worked the total number of times indicated.
- Stitches between the ( ) parenthesis are to all be worked into the same stitch.
- Worked flat in two pieces and then seamed together to create “pocket”.
- Stitches with the number appearing first will all be worked into the same stitch. For example, 5dc would be 5 double crochets all worked in the same stitch. Whereas, dc 5 would be one double crochet worked into each of the next five stitches.

Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Assemble
Hold both pieces with WS together. With one point of the pentagon up, start on the right upper corner. Lining up the stitches, begin two stitches to the left (towards the center point) from the corner chain 1. Whip st back and forth around to the opposite corner, ending two stitches past the corner chain 1 on the left.
Bow Tie and Hanger
Ch 101.
Fasten off.
Pull the end tightly to “close”, this will make the 101st stitch become a knot.
Count up from either end of the chain 30 stitches and sew the 30th stitch on either side together. This should create a loop and two tails.
Sew the tie onto the inside of one of the points. With the hanger upward and the ties downward.
Pull the ends of the ties through the chain 1 space on either side of the corner chain 1.
Weave in all ends and enjoy your new Earbud Pocket!
