Looking for something quick to help you reset after the whirlwind of holiday crafting? These little bookmark crochet patterns are a perfect blend of charm, functionality, and the satisfaction of starting AND finishing a project. Picture yourself diving into a good book with one of these handmade treasures marking your journey or sweetly sitting atop your newest planner to mark the years progress. It’s not just about staying organized but infusing a touch of handmade warmth into your daily life.
I created three different styles for this pattern! I think they are adorable each on their own but if you were marking multiple pages, they would also be great together!
Each one is just as tiny as the next, you can top your paperclips with a bow, rose or sprout!
I put mine on top of some rose gold jumbo paperclips. Alternatively, you could attach them to a regular paperclip if you wanted to. I tried this myself and it works. You could also attach them to the end of a long crocheted chain of thread, the thread will be thin enough to go between book pages like a regular bookmark. Not to mention you could just use these as tiny motifs to decorate all sorts of projects! (Earrings anyone? Do you need tiny bows for your amigurumi maybe?)

Materials:
- Approximately 12 yds/11 m of #10 crochet thread each style
- 1.5 mm hook or size needed to obtain gauge for the body
- 2″ Jumbo Paper Clips
- Tapestry Needle
- Measuring Tape
- Scissors
Gauge:
Half Double Crochet- 10 sts by 8 rows = 1″
Gauge is important to your project so your finished piece will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The hook size for the pattern is based on what I used, but gauge can vary from person to person and be affected by yarn. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make 1”, try using a smaller size hook; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook. The goal for these toppers to just get them as small as possible.
Stitches and Abbreviations (US Terms):
- ch(s) – chain(s)
- dc – double crochet
- hdc – half double crochet
- hdc2tog – half double crochet 2 together, decrease
- RS – right side
- sc – single crochet
- sc2tog – single crochet 2 together, decrease
- sl st – slip stitch
- st(es) – stitch(es)
- tr – treble crochet
- WS – wrong side
Notes:
- Beginning chains do not count as stitches unless otherwise noted.
- Crochet topper is crocheted separately and then attached/sewn onto the paperclip.
- Stitches between the [ ] brackets are to be worked the total number of times indicated.
- Stitches with the number appearing first will all be worked into the same stitch. For example, 5dc would be 5 double crochet all worked in the same stitch. Whereas, dc 5 would be one double crochet worked into each of the next five stitches.
